On Parenting: Are your children riding safe?

On Parenting

This story really spoke to me: Has your child hopped into one of those passenger vans to attend camp, church, an after-school program or a field trip? How was your kid secured? Did you happen to see whether the seat belt held them in safely, or whether they were too small for adult-size buckles? Did you ask, as I did once, to bring a car seat? (I was told not to because they said it was safe as is.) Then you're not alone. And maybe we should all be taking a closer look at these vans and how our kids are being restrained. That time my little guy was supposed to ride in a van to a local pool when he was way too small to not be in a car seat just felt wrong to me. I ended up being able to find something else for him to do that day. A similar situation didn't sit right with Lauren Gravitz, so she did some reporting. What she found is pretty astonishing, and her child's camp actually changed its ways. Take a read, and maybe you'll be looking into this soon, too.

 As always, thanks for reading.
